IPL Skin rejuvenation
IPL is the gold standard for photorejuvenation. This FDA-cleared, patented technology provides dramatic results for a variety of benign conditions, including age spots, sun-induced freckles, symptoms of rosacea, birthmarks, unsightly veins, acne scarring and other blemishes.
Birthmarks
Almost everyone has a birthmark. In most instances, birthmarks are small, and often located in inconspicuous areas covered by clothing. Many people consider these innocuous birthmarks a sign of their own uniqueness. However, some birthmarks are clearly disfiguring, especially those that appear on the face and neck. These birthmarks can be a source of great psychological and social pain.
There are two basic types of birthmarks. Red or vascular birthmarks are caused by an irregularity in the blood vessels and are the most common type of birthmarks. Pigmented birthmarks, known as nevus (singular) or nevi (plural), are brown in color and may be very large. Many birthmarks fade before children reach school age, but more commonly, they remain if untreated.
Treatment options for birthmarks have traditionally included cryosurgery (freezing off the birthmark), traditional surgery, ablative laser surgery, and the use of steroid medications. These conventional treatments can be effective, but are painful. They frequently damage healthy skin resulting in scarring, and they require lengthy recovery times.
However, IPLTM provides new options for many patients with disfiguring birthmarks. IPL treatments are non-invasive. A series of treatments can provide a long-lasting solution for those suffering from unsightly birthmarks.
Freckles
Some people might still describe a smattering of freckles across a child's nose as "cute." Even in childhood, those brown spots are actually a sign of sun damage. As we age, freckles become more prominent and are often joined by noticeable age spots affecting many areas: the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. And at this stage no one thinks they're "cute" anymore.
Efforts to diminish the appearance of freckles go back centuries. Ancient Egyptians used oil of fenugreek to fade freckles and age spots. In more modern cultures, lemon juice was a favorite home remedy. All of that gave way to modern cosmetics and bleaching agents, none of which have been overly effective. More advanced techniques including freezing, chemical peels, dermabrasion and laser resurfacing may get rid of freckles and age spots, but such treatments can be painful, and they may damage healthy skin or cause scarring.
New revolutionary light-based therapies are rapidly changing treatment options for those who want freckles and brown spots to fade into memory. These treatments utilize the power of Intense Pulsed LightTM (IPL) to provide a gentle, non-invasive solution that provides gradual, natural improvement in the skin's appearance.
